Medventions will open Call for Applications for Fall 2026 Fellowship Programs this Summer

Toronto, ON, Halifax, NS, & St. Johns, NL – June 9, 2026 – Medventions, founded at Sunnybrook Research Institute, is a healthcare-based, medtech innovation fellowship program that targets clinical needs and nurtures Canada’s promising medtech entrepreneurs. During the Medventions Toronto Innovation Day, Co-founder and Co-director, Dr. Ahmed Nasef, announced that applications are opening this summer for its Fellowship Programs across the country. The Fall 2026 programs will be hosted at three sites across Canada: Toronto, Ontario; Halifax, Nova Scotia; and St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, with support from Nova Scotia Health and NL Health Services. 

The Medventions Fellowship Program is designed to equip early-career innovators, clinicians, engineers, and entrepreneurs with the skills, mentorship, and resources needed to bring medical technologies from concept to commercialization. With hubs in three distinct Canadian regions, the program is building a nationally distributed medtech talent pipeline that reflects the breadth and diversity of Canada’s healthcare landscape.

Program Details

The Medventions Fellowship program is a four-month immersive education experience that combines clinical observation, hands-on project work, structured curriculum, and mentorship from leading clinicians, engineers, and medtech entrepreneurs. Key features include:

  • – Four-month fellowship beginning in September 2026 and running until December 2026
  • – Cohort-based learning at three sites: Toronto, Halifax, and St. John’s
  • – Access to clinical environments, prototyping labs, and regulatory expertise
  • – Mentorship from industry leaders, clinicians, and medtech leaders
  • – Entry to a Canadian network of medtech and digital health entrepreneurs and companies
  • – A culminating demo day and investor showcase

 

Eligibility

The fellowship is open to students and recent graduates. Applicants do not need prior medtech experience but must demonstrate a commitment to improving healthcare through innovation.
